Award Information
Video: Mitternacht
Contest & Award: Anime Expo 2003 - Best Action
Notes:
This award was my first award for my AMVs. I have entered contests in the past but those were only online contest and those don't work well. Mitternacht it a remake and i made it because i wanted to enter it into a con, so i needed to fix a few things. I think it worked well. Though it's possible i could've won with Midnight, i'm still glad i remade it. Winning it came as a complete surprise because i was almost certain Sin City would've won. When they announced the winners they had announced Mitternacht but played a different video and then did it again, lol. The suspense was well worth it and I’m very proud of my award :)

Contest & Award: AWA9 Expo 2003 - Best Horror
Notes:
For those of you who don't know, AWA is the AMV convention. They hold three contests: Pro, Masters, and Expo. The Expo is a no rules, no limit contest where you can send any video you want and they come up with awards for them. This award was a shock to me as well. I didn't expect to win anything as I only entered because it's a great way to get you videos shown in public. Unfortunately I don't have the actual award in hand at this time.

Contest & Award: A-M-V.org 2004 VCA - Best Horror
Notes:
I've been a member of a-m-v.org since May 2001, which is a long time. The VCAs started in early 2002 and really came to my surprise that Mitternacht was nominated for Best Action and Best Horror for the 2004 VCAs. I never though the video was that popular or even that many people knew about it. It came to an even greater surprise when I found out I won best Horror over other popular videos. This award makes me even more proud of Mitternacht.

Video: Every Breath You Take
Contest & Award: Fanime 2004 - Viewer's Choice Best Drama
Notes:
I was really happy when EBYT made the Fanime 2004 finals because Fanime is one of my local cons and I could actually attend it. Not only that, but it's the second video I’ve made that made it into a contest. I was really nervous at the convention and the long wait between he contest and the results didn't help much. A few hours before the contest I tried to contact Scott who was the amv coordinator and I found out I "had" to be there, which from what I gathered was because I had won :P I wasn't exactly sure but by the time I had received my award and they were playing the video again, it had settled in and I was able to relax. It's a great feeling when you watch other people react to your video the way you want them to. Watching the audiences' reaction to EBYT at Fanime made the trip so worth it, and the award only made it better :)

Contest & Award: Anime Evolution 2004 - Best Romance
Notes:
The year before, I was asked to enter Mitternacht into this contest but only managed to get 3rd runner up. Which wasn't bad :P This year, I wasn’t concerned about winning contests, I just wanted my video to be shown. I sent EBYT to AE04 and was surprised I made it because EBYT didn't do so well at other cons. AE was the last con in the list of cons I sent to and I was really hoping it would at least make the finals, and it did. Along with my video some other great video made it in and I was sure I wouldn't win. The weekend of the con was really suspenseful. I checked my e-mail and several message boards to find the results but not luck. Finally someone I know online messaged me and gave me some good news :P I was surprised and happy. I've won another award.

Video: As The World Crashes Down
Contest & Award: Animania Con Ja Nai XI - Best Drama
Notes:
A friend of mine, online, messaged me about a conest he was doing for his anime club's convention. At the time i didn't have any new material to send to it so i was just goning to enter my older videos. But after working on "As The World Crashes Down" i decided i would let it premiere at this con. Not only that, but it ended up winning best drama :)

Contest & Award: Anime Destiny 2004 - Judges Honorable Mention
Notes:
The video was supposed to be in the contest at Anime Destiny, but i had recieved an e-mail from the amv coordinator:

"Judging concluded today and we came across some discussion about your video, As the World Crashes Down. We all thought it was one of the best videos submitted, but there's quite a conflict over the subject matter (I'm pretty sure you expected that). As you might know, UC Berkeley is still the grounds for a lot of controversy over 9/11-type material and even the slightest mention of the event, that doesn't please even one loudmouth, can escalate into quite a bit of trouble.

Personally, I like this video a lot. It has guts, it has a reality to it. All of the judges expressed the same feelings. However, we feel that if we do show it on campus, a few hypersensitive/protest-driven people might take this to be a political statement or even a look at 9/11 in poor taste. We don't believe it's in poor taste at all, but, because we are a student group, and our actions will be linked to the university, we feel it could cause some problems for the campus, especially here in Berkeley.
"

i had no problem with it as i wouldn't want there to be any trouble. Although the video wasn't shown or participated in the contest, it was still given Honorable Mentions from Judges.

Video: Ace Combat Zero Trailer 3
Contest & Award: AWA10 Expo 2005 - Best Trailer
Notes:
I really didn't expect to win. AtomX called me while it was playing and left a voicemail. I got the crowd reaction and i was excited. he then told me it had won best trailer. I'm glad it won. I really like this video and hope it wins some more and i'm able to be at a con when it's played.

Award Information
Video: Elements
Contest & Award: Anime Destiny 2005 - Judges Award: Achievement in Simplicity
Notes:
Simple video, but a lot to say. thats what i was going for. Even though it didn't "win" any of the contest categories, a judges award is still worthy and no less valuable to me. I can see this contest as being one i'll enter every year and i hope to attend the con in the furture. The judge/coordinator's words:

"In just under 90 seconds, this video convincingly tells an emotional story of meeting, betrayal, and redemption, using nothing but still frames linked by simple fades to black. Also perfectly timed and paced to acoustic guitar, Elements shows that you don't need fancy effects, a popular song, or, in this case, even motion to create a powerful video. For this exemplary creation, we award the Achievement in Simplicity."

Contest & Award: Ohayocon 2006 - Best Trailer
Notes:
To be completely honest, I forgot I had entered this contest until the day of the con when someone wished me luck in the contest. I didn't personly send the video to this contest, but it was an option for the Anime USA contest to have the video submitted to Ohayocon as well. So i checked the box. I'm glad the video was shown and won. It's one of my favorite videos.

Award Information
Video: Rain
Contest & Award: AWA12 2006 - Best Angst
Notes:

Award Information
Video: This Time
Contest & Award: AWA12 2006 - The "Are you friggin kidding me, this didn't win in Pro?!" Award
Notes:
At AWA they let the guests give out awards. This award was given to me by my friend Jay (Koopiskeva) cause i guess he felt that my video should've won something in pro o.O

Video: This Time
Contest & Award: NDK 2007 - Best Drama
Notes:
I'ts been a really slow year for me. I didn't send this video to that many contests as Anime Expo and Fanime have lost my interest. They have turned into shitty contests and I don't feel like winning there would mean anything special. Whats the point in winning a contest when the contest is rigged or shitty? I'll pass. Anyway, NDK was the last contest I entered This Time into so I'm glad it won.

Award Information
Video: Ai to Shi
Contest & Award: AWA14 2008 - Best Instrumental
Notes:
This was a complete surprise... I didn't intend to win at all so I actualyl released the video before the con. Turns out it did win. This was my only award this year so it felt nice to win but I would've rather I Wish You Were Here win something.

Award Information
Video: Macross: Angels Voice
Contest & Award: Anime Central 2009 - Best Drama
Notes:
This was a sad award to recieve for me. I've been going to Acen for about 4 or 5 years and this year I was unable to attend. I wish I had been there to see it.

Contest & Award: Anime Evolution 2009 - AMV Coordinators Choice
Notes:
Another suprise for me. I would have prefered a category win but it's a great honor to be the coordinator's favorite as i've always looked up to Vlad as an editor. It pelases me greatly that he liked this video.
