Background: I first got into computers in elementary school. They had these old models and we did typing exercises on them. Then after meeting my friend I used his computer a lot when I came over his house. After a couple of year of asking my mom to buy a computer, she finally did. Well to make a long story short, I ended up learning a shit load about computers and now everyone goes to me when they need help. I made my first music video in January 2000. I was simply trying to ge the video files off of the Final Fantasy cds. Then I thought I should add music to it. I added "Man With the Machine Gun" from the games soundtrack. I showed it to my friends and well they thought it was cool. A few months later I created an other video using final fantasy 7. Soon after this video I was finally introduced to AMVs. Jessmaster was the first creator I saw videos from. Later on I was introduced to videos by Kevin Caldwell, Brad Demos, Vlade Pohnert, and others. Of course I was then in the mode of "OMG I HAVE TO MAKE THESE!!!" This was the worst decision I've ever made, for I didn't know I would still be making them (haha, it's a joke... get it?). I made my first video shortly after getting my laptop. Because the original was deleted, I am unsure on when created my first AMV but I will guess October or November. My first AMV was Eva-Kryptonite. I made it and showed it to my brother. He didn't like it too much so I remade it several times. The current version is version 3. From there on I created about 4 videos a month until I hit a wall in October 2001. I created Love Hina - Every Breath You Take and was out of ideas so I worked on a remake of Endless Resort (which in my opinion isn't too much better). After that, I ran out of ideas and motivation. During this time I was facing website hosting issues and many life problems. I ended up kicking back into action with Smack my Bitch up. This video was a bitch. I had just received my 40Gb hard drive and windows kept crashing on me as I worked through the video. after 4 crashes in a month I upgraded to windows xp and all was well. From here I wanted to change my outlook on editing. I must have realized that the past 36 videos took literally days and not weeks to make. So I decided to make videos that had more thought. I created Outlaw Star - Enterprise Theme in only a few days, but the thought of creating it lasted a while. My next and the video I think removed all motivation I had was VHD:B - Excalibur. I spent about 2 months editing this video. I stopped editing videos for 4 months and wanted to watch anime. Before this I hadn't seen too much (although I did make a list. it was big but it's much bigger now). I went AX2002 in July where I got to see many other creators (yea see, I am was too shy and nervous to talk to anyone. I did talk to Machine and Tim Park but that was only for a short while). I found several new anime to watch and I ended up starting a video and completing most of it in one night; Onegai Teacher - Shine. I had just finished watching Hellsing a few weeks before and I was actually watching the last ep of OT while I edited the video. After this video I started my greatest project. MITTERNACHT! I Started 2003 on a good note. I was too late to finish Midnight in time for Christmas but it was worth the extra time editing. I then created it's big brother "Mitternacht" which until I create something better, is my best video to date. I believe both Midnight and Mitternacht have put me in the AMV spotlight as a good creator. |
